Mike Thompson

Mike Thompson is a percussion graduate of Kansas State University and the Conservatory of Music at UMKC, and has been performing in the Kansas City area since 1970.

He later has the pleasure of performing with various acts on the Johnny Carson show, and the Merv Griffin show.

Mike’s percussion talents (drums, electronic percussion, timpani, mallets, etc.) appear on the soundtracks of Love Boat, Dynasty, Hotel, and Who’s the Boss. He has also recorded with David Benoit, Clare Fisher, Gary Foster, Don Menza, Sam Most, Jackson Sheldon, Bill Watrous, Bill Holman, and recently with Grammy award-winning saxophonist Ernie Watts.

His performance credits in concert and on tour include playing with: Raquel Welch, Charo, Robert Goulet, Lou Rawls, Jim Nabors, Tiny Tim, the Platters, the Coasters, the Drifters, Don Rickles, Peter Marshall, John Tesh, and the Moody Blues.

Locally, Mike has played both live, and on studio recordings with every KC talent you can imagine: Ida McBeth, Kevin Mahogany, Millie Edwards, Tim Whitmer, the KC Symphony, Jimmy Dorsey, Guy Lombardo, and more.
